Champagne cellar tours in Reims: compare six houses

Choose your Reims champagne tour by the experience you want, then compare the tasting and the time you need. You might be looking for chalk cellars and contemporary art, a tour that explains production, or something designed for children. The house name alone won’t tell you which ticket fits your trip.

This guide compares six houses with visitor entrances in Reims. Prices and tour details were checked on their official websites and booking pages on 21 October 2026. They’re planning figures for named experiences; use the booking calendar to confirm your date, language and final price.

These aren’t interchangeable tickets. A private visit, a meal or a different tasting can change the price, and at Pommery you’ll also need to choose between a self-guided and guided visit before checking the conditions for your ticket.

Which champagne house suits your visit?

Pommery: chalk cellars and contemporary art

Pommery’s visitor address is 5 place du Général Gouraud. Its cellar and champagne-making experience is advertised from €30, with one tasting and a duration of one hour. Depending on the ticket, you’ll combine the chalk cellars with contemporary art and the Pommery museum.

The French word crayères means former chalk quarries, now used as cellars. If the underground setting interests you as much as the wine, Pommery is a useful place to start comparing. For a self-guided visit, the estate provides an audio-guide app. Bring your headphones. If you’d rather follow a guide, select that option when booking.

The Champagne and Heritage experience adds Villa Demoiselle and is advertised from €55, for two hours and two tastings. Check the ticket’s programme before paying. Pommery states a cellar temperature of around 10°C, so take a warm layer even on a summer day. Pommery tours and prices, in French.

Lanson: understand the production journey

At 66 rue de Courlancy, Lanson’s route takes you through its garden, winery and cellars, making it a useful option if you want to connect the production process with the place where the bottles age. A tasting-only appointment gives you a different experience. Check which one you’re booking.

Original Creation costs €32 per adult and lasts an hour and a half, with a tasting of Le Black Création. Emblematic Creation is advertised at €40 for the same duration, with two cuvées instead. The house offers tours in English and French; German and Italian require a request.

Lanson says its shop and tastings can be accessed without a reservation. That doesn’t secure a place on a cellar tour. Book the tour separately if it’s the reason for your visit. Lanson experiences and visitor information.

Mumm: explore the cellars behind Cordon Rouge

Mumm welcomes tour visitors at 34 rue du Champ de Mars. Its Cordon Rouge Experience costs €32 for an hour and a half, including a guided cellar tour and one tasting of that cuvée.

If you already recognise the label and want to understand the wine behind it, this is a clearly defined starting point. For a comparison of two wines, the Pinot Noir experience is advertised at €42, also lasting an hour and a half. The €19 listing on the official page refers to the 2026 Heritage Days event, rather than the regular tour.

Check the seasonal calendar, especially for a winter trip. Opening days change through the year. The 25 kilometres mentioned in Mumm’s description refer to the underground network; you won’t be walking that entire distance on the tour. Mumm tours and opening periods, in French.

Veuve Clicquot: a one-hour introduction to the yellow label

Go to the visitor centre at 1 rue Albert Thomas. The Brut Carte Jaune experience is advertised at €36 and lasts one hour. It combines the chalk cellars, the house’s history and a tasting of its signature yellow-label champagne.

If you’re setting aside just part of your Reims day for champagne, this one-hour introduction lets you visit the chalk cellars and taste the yellow-label cuvée without booking one of the house’s longer comparative tastings. Those are separate products. French and English departures are offered.

Veuve Clicquot publishes a seasonal calendar, including fewer opening days towards the end of the year. The site also states that tours, the shop and café can accommodate visitors with reduced mobility, provided this is arranged when booking. Brut Carte Jaune tour, in French.

Taittinger: two wines, with a separate family option

Taittinger’s visitor entrance is at 9 place Saint-Nicaise. Instant Rosé costs €40 per adult and lasts an hour and ten minutes, including the guided cellar visit followed by Brut Réserve and Prestige Rosé. Choose an English or French departure in the booking system.

For children aged 6 to 12, look at Instant Famille instead. It uses an age-appropriate tour of the cellars and finishes with an art activity for children while the adults explore the two cuvées. The published price for that experience is €40 per adult and €25 per child.

Child pricing depends on the experience. On Instant Rosé, ages 10–17 cost €25 and under-10s are free; that doesn’t make the separate family workshop free for under-10s. Check the ticket name. The house asks visitors to arrive five to ten minutes early and gives a cellar temperature of about 12°C. Instant Rosé and Instant Famille, official booking pages in French.

Ruinart: a two-hour visit with a twelve-person limit

Ruinart’s chalk cellar tour starts at 4 rue des Crayères. The published adult price is €90 for a two-hour experience, including a guided visit and a commentary-led tasting of two cuvées. The advertised group limit is twelve people.

If you want a maximum of twelve participants and can give one house two hours, those are useful reasons to consider this format. The route introduces the former chalk quarries and works of art on the estate before the tasting. English and French visits are offered.

The published child price is €50 for ages 7–17, with no charge for under-7s. Before you book for a child using a pushchair, or for a wheelchair user, discuss the route with the team: the age-based ticket price doesn’t establish whether the visitor itinerary will suit your particular needs. The eight kilometres described on the website are the cellar network, not the visitor itinerary. Ruinart chalk cellar visit, in French.

Booking dates, languages and access

Pick the experience and language first. Then book a departure. If you’re visiting for a particular programme, such as an activity for children or a vintage tasting, check that experience’s own calendar before building the rest of your day around it; shop opening hours aren’t a timetable of available tours.

Pay attention to dated offers. Taittinger’s booking site lists a €30 Champagne Week visit specifically for 19–24 October 2026, at 6pm and in French only. It isn’t the regular Instant Rosé price for an English-language trip on another date.

For wheelchair access, contact the house before buying. Pommery and Veuve Clicquot advertise access possibilities; Lanson and Mumm ask you to state your requirements when booking. An old staircase in a photograph doesn’t tell you whether an arranged accessible route exists. For families, compare the content as well as the child price: a discounted ticket and a tour designed for children are different choices.

Plan a Reims day around your cellar booking

All six visitor addresses in this guide are in Reims. Use the entrance on your ticket, since a brand’s administrative address may be different. Check the town, too, when looking at other houses: a booking in Épernay needs a separate trip from Reims.

Arriving by train doesn’t mean you have to hire a car. Plan the transfer from your station to the visitor address on foot, by public transport or by taxi, depending on your mobility and departure time. A cellar tour in town isn’t a vineyard outing. If you want to see the growing areas and meet producers in villages, allow a separate part of your stay for that trip.

For a first day in Reims, we’d book one house and leave time for the cathedral and city centre. Our things to do in Reims guide helps you build that day. For a break between visits, see the local coffee shop guide.

Planning your visit

Compare the experience you want. Pommery combines cellars and art; Lanson takes in several production spaces. Mumm and Veuve Clicquot offer introductions centred on well-known cuvées. Taittinger has a tour designed for ages 6–12, while Ruinart advertises a twelve-person group limit. Check the tour and tasting rather than choosing by label alone.

The six reference experiences in this guide have published adult prices from €30 to €90, checked on 21 October 2026. They include different durations and tastings. Confirm the price for your chosen experience and travel date on the official booking page.

Book your tour, date and language ahead, particularly if you’re on a day trip. Being able to enter a shop or attend a tasting without a reservation doesn’t guarantee a place on the guided cellar tour.

Several houses publish child tickets. Taittinger’s Instant Famille is designed for children aged 6–12 and includes an art activity. Check the recommended age, the price of the specific experience and pushchair arrangements. Child conditions vary between tours, including within the same house.

Yes, the six visitor addresses covered here are in Reims. Plan your route to the entrance on your ticket; they aren’t all in the same place. If you choose a producer or cellar outside Reims, check the outward and return transport separately.

Take a warm layer and comfortable shoes. Pommery gives a temperature of around 10°C in its cellars and Taittinger around 12°C. Even when the weather outside is warm, the underground part of your visit can feel cool.
